Now Offering IV Moderate Sedation

Sedation Options

At Wiseman Endodontics, patient comfort has always been a priority. We are proud to offer IV moderate sedation for medically qualified patients as our primary advanced sedation option — giving us a highly controlled, highly effective way to help patients feel more relaxed, comfortable, and confident about getting the care they need.

A Higher Level of Comfort for the Right Patient

Some patients need more than local anesthesia alone. IV moderate sedation can be especially helpful for patients who:

  • Have high dental anxiety or fear
  • Have had difficulty getting numb in the past
  • Have a strong gag reflex
  • Are undergoing more involved treatment
  • Have delayed care because they feel overwhelmed

Patients remain able to respond but are in a deeply relaxed state and often remember very little of the procedure afterward.

Why We Added IV Moderate Sedation

We are always looking for meaningful ways to improve the patient experience. IV moderate sedation allows us to better care for patients who might otherwise avoid treatment because of fear, past difficult experiences, or trouble becoming fully comfortable during care. When patients are more relaxed, treatment feels less overwhelming and more approachable.

Dr. Wiseman’s Training and Preparation

This is not something Dr. Wiseman added casually. She committed an entire year to making IV moderate sedation available at Wiseman Endodontics — traveling to Portland, Oregon on three separate occasions to complete three five-day training sessions through the Oregon Academy of General Dentistry. The entire Wiseman Endodontics team has also been trained so that every part of the patient experience supports safety, preparation, communication, and comfort.

Our Sedation Approach

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
A mild option that may help some patients feel more relaxed during treatment.

IV Moderate Sedation
Our primary advanced sedation option for medically qualified patients. IV moderate sedation offers a deeper, more controlled level of relaxation than nitrous oxide — an important option for patients with high anxiety, difficulty getting numb, or treatment needs that call for a more predictable sedation experience.

Oral Sedation
In limited cases, oral sedation may still be discussed, but IV moderate sedation is our primary recommendation when a deeper level of relaxation is needed.

Who May Be a Candidate

Not every patient is a candidate for IV moderate sedation. A consultation and medical screening are required to determine whether it is appropriate and safe. We will review your medical history, discuss your needs, and help determine the best comfort option for your situation.

A deeper, more controlled level of relaxation for medically qualified patients with high anxiety, difficulty getting numb, strong gag reflexes, or more involved treatment needs.

Who it may help:

• High dental anxiety
• Difficulty getting numb
• Strong gag reflex
• More complex treatment needs

Why this matters

Why Wiseman Endodontics
